Miley Cyrus Films Movie on Tybee Island Cast and crew members of the new Miley Cyrus - Greg Kinnear movie, “The Last Song,“ continued shooting Wednesday on Tybee Island.

Streets leading to the area where the church is for “The Last Song” may be blocked off, but the barricades aren’t stopping some from trying to catch a glimpse of the action, even if they’re on a “laid back” vacation.

“Everybody was telling us Tybee Island.  Miley Cyrus was filming.  So, we thought, lets rent some bikes and bike down to where the filming is going on and see if we could get a shot of her,“ explains Lori Johnson, who’s visiting from Ashville, N.C.

Also starring in the movie alongside Miley Cyrus are Greg Kinnear and Kelly Preston in the movie.

The cast and crew will be leaving the island to shoot at Wormsloe Plantation and a few other locations for two weeks.

Miley Cyrus Shooting Movie On Tybee Island

Disney star Miley Cyrus is filming her new movie in Tybee Island, GA. Tybee Island is a great family vacation destination. The town is filled with local restaurants and boutiques that draws thousands of visitors each, but now there is even more to see during your visit to Tybee.

Cyrus, best known for her role on Disney’s Hannah Montana, is shooting her new movie The Last Song based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks. Vacationers and locals alike are enjoying Cyrus’ visit to the island.

Two young local girls on the beach said “Miley was so nice and such a real person. She gave us autographed pictures and was really awesome.” The two girls also said that they were coming back the next day because they were shooting a beach volleyball scene and wanted to watch.

The city council members expect a boost in tourism during Miley’s stay at Tybee and say that it is a good thing to have in a rough economy. Local shop owners say that Tybee is empty 38-40 weeks a year, so whatever brings the people in is fine with them.

Tybee is a beautiful beach town lined with colorful beach houses and great restaurants. It is a very family-friendly area, unlike some of the other “party towns” found along the coast. Tybee Island is also within a fifteen minute drive of historic Savannah, GA. This gorgeous coastal town is definitely worth the drive. You will have a great time, and if you come before the end of the summer, you may just get a chance to see Hannah Montana in action.
